The Pinterest Look for less: Date Night Edition

The Pinterest Look for less: Date Night Edition

August 13, 2019 in Fashion, Mommy, Family, Lifestyle - 13 Comments >/div>

You scroll through Pinterest and see super stylish trendy outfits one after the next on your feed. Bloggers are taking over the fashion game by putting together gorgeous creations from various different stores and showcasing how you as well, can do the same. However, how many times have you clicked the links of those cute outfits and almost choked at the price, immediately getting discouraged? I know I have, but I am here to share an affordable date night option for you that will not break the bank. Whether you are a mom, a student, or just someone on a budget, I am here to bring you my new series on this blog, “The Pinterest Look for Less” and this is the “date night” edition.

For this series, I am going to be on the hunt for “Pinterest worthy” outfits, and recreating them with more affordable options. I got this idea because I remembered this show that used to be on Style Network called, “The Look for Less” (2002) and I was obsessed with it! With one photo, people recreated outfits at an affordable price to see how much money they could save, all while achieving the same look. I plan to do these posts every so often with different visions (date night, work, casual, errand, etc. )

To begin, I opened Pinterest and typed in “Date Night Outfit” to see what I could find. I tried looking for outfits that I knew came from stores to which their items were at a higher-priced value, so I could try and recreate the look at a cheaper cost. I also kept in mind that I wasn’t too concerned with trying to “copy” the look exactly, but rather just use it as inspiration for a more affordable look. I paid attention to styles, prints, colors, body type, etc. This was the outfit I found that I really wanted to recreate. I loved the bold leopard high waisted skirt, but also the simple classic racerback tank that went with it. I feel this outfit can also be dressed up by pairing it with a faux leather jacket and some pumps and a red lip. Another positive is that you can make these pieces versatile by pairing them with other items.

This outfit can be found at Vici Dolls

I knew this look would be perfect to recreate because it is trendy, perfect for the summertime, and versatile. Please note, I did incorporate the hat for this look because I am not a hat person and didn’t want to buy it just because. Below is my total for all of the items (minus the hat) for the Pinterest look I found.

VICI outfit total

Although I hear great reviews about VICI all the time, they don’t have a great selection for plus size women. Therefore, I do not personally shop at VICI, but if they carried extended sizes, I know for a fact my closet would be filled with VICI clothing. This “Look For Less” has nothing to do with me bashing the brand, but rather, a ton to do with finding affordable options for people who love the look of these outfits, but can’t afford $300+ on one look. Although I cannot feel the quality of the clothing, I do expect that at their price points, the clothes are of great quality. Keep in mind, normally when you go shopping online you do not shop for the entire outfit in one sitting.

My Final look

Like I said above, my outfit produced a different shape on me because this is what I was able to find which works best with my body type. As you can see, the skirt is flowier, but also ties at the waist. The tank is also dressier due to the lace on the straps. I think the lace adds a nice touch but is also versatile because it can be worn dressed down with jeans and sandals, or tucked into a different skirt. Although the bag is quite different from the one VICI sells, this bag was one I already had and fits my style a lot better than the other one. I was able to find ALL of the pieces on Amazon (minus the bag). The total for this look when I added all of the pieces (minus the bag) was……….drumroll, please!

This price EXCLUDES the purse

So when I added up the final total of the entire look including the bag it equaled out to $132, which gives me a total of $181 (57%) in savings! I had a really fun time achieving the VICI Dolls recreation and it definitely was a challenge because I had to find pieces I would definitely wear again. I will admit that you do sometimes get what you pay for because the quality of the clothing items and jewelry is not exactly perfect but is good enough for a night out. I don’t always shop on Amazon for clothes, but recently I have been trying to find more affordable pieces from there. The shoes and purse were really great quality but were also the most expensive items I purchased. The bag could be used as a clutch or a crossbody which makes it more versatile. One day, I also wore the skirt with a one-piece bathing suit to the pool and it was a more trendy alternative to a standard cover-up.

So that’s it! That is The Pinterest Look For Less: Date Night Edition! I had so much fun achieving this look and it has made me realize that sometimes if you look really hard, you can find exactly what you are looking for and still feel just as confident! Would you wear this look? What are your thoughts? Did I do a good job? Let me know down in the comments what you would like me to recreate next!

Thanks for reading!
